Please pledge generously.
We work with kids during and after school to give
them a chance to get involved in building and using wooden boats --
something that most inner city youth have never dreamed of. You should
see their eyes light up when they realize that it’s a real boat we’re
talking about.
These kids gain skills and values that serve them
throughout their lives. Not only do they learn how to work with wood,
they learn that a set of plans and a pile of raw materials can be
transformed a thing of beauty and usefulness. They learn that it takes
persistence, discipline, teamwork, and careful craftsmanship. After
the boat is completed, they have a whole new understanding of what it
takes to accomplish something and they have a can-do self-confidence
that enables them to take on other challenges. The motto of a local
Rotary Club is “Building Responsible Youth.” That’s just what we are
doing.
Your pledge will be used to help buy wood, tools
and fasteners and pay instructors for next years projects. The more you
can pledge, the more boats and youth will be on the water next year.
Make sure that you come to one of our boat launchings. The smiles and
grins are worth every penny.
You can quickly and easily make your
