Our Community Guidelines
-Everyone has something to teach and something to learn. We honor each others’ knowledge and welcome mistakes as learning opportunities.
-We know we all can grow, so we practice giving, receiving, and asking for feedback. We own our impact, no matter our intentions.
-We look out for each others’ physical and emotional safety. We provide clear expectations, and practice tool safety and awareness of our surroundings.
-It’s great to ask for help! We advocate for ourselves and others, and normalize and meet each others’ needs.
-We see each other as full humans. We value quality craftsmanship, but not at the expense of caring for each other. We know people are more important than perfectionism or traditional “professionalism”.
-We work to be accessible and anti-oppressive, countering “isms” (racism, sexism, etc.) and toxic workplace and trades cultures. We focus on creating a space for those traditionally excluded from woodshops, and welcome everyone.
-Community is important! We honor each others’ identities and see ourselves as part of a broader community. We create a culture where people can come as they are and feel that they belong
