Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers move our mission forward. They come from all over the Twin Cities with various backgrounds such as teachers, woodworkers, parents, and outdoor enthusiasts. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities in the woodshop and on water for you to share your time and talents.

Volunteer in the Shop
Shop volunteers perform a variety of tasks to help support our youth programs, including milling boat kits, shop maintenance, paddle making, and more. Roles are available with or without woodworking experience an volunteers are asked to commit to a weekly time for three months.
Volunteer Instructor
Work with youth in the apprenticeship program, assisting with building and serving as an adult mentor. Experience working with youth is preferred. This position requires a weekly commitment of four months.
One-Time Opportunities
We have a variety of one-time or short-term volunteer opportunities, such as outreach assistance at events like the Minnesota State Fair, American Xraft Council, and Minneapolis Boat Show. We also appreciate having land and on-water support during our youth program boat launches and UBB-hosted events.
